Zenosense, Inc. (ZENO) is developing and intends to market a novel device to enable hospitals to detect Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) bacterial contamination, a major constituent of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). The annual costs of treating hospitalized MRSA patients are estimated to be between $3.2 billion and $4.2 billion in the United States alone. MRSA infected patients are likely to spend three times as long in a hospital stay at three times the cost, and are five times more likely to die than an uninfected patient.
